In-Person Assistance Site Added for July 18 Special Nominating Meeting

While our July 18 Special Nominating Meeting is fully virtual, Androscoggin County has added an in-person assistance site to help people navigate the online process for nominating delegates for the Statewide Convention. Important facts and dates:

– Deadline to pre-register for the July 18 meeting is Thursday, July 16 at 5:00. Visit https://mainedems.org/senate-race/senate-delegate-process/ and select Participate in Special Nominating Meeting to pre-register. Note: You must be registered as a Democrat within Androscoggin County in order to vote.

– Everyone who has pre-registered will receive a link to participate in the July 18 meeting. Others can register on July 18 between 1:00 and 3:00 pm via the same link.

  • If your registration application is declined, contact votersupport@mainedems.org.
  • The most common cause for rejection is an address entry error between the submitted registration form and voter rolls.
  • Once you are registered you are checked in. If you have already registered, you are checked in.

– The Androscoggin Special Nominating Meeting will be virtual. Every registered attendee will receive a link to an online ballot form to cast their vote. The County will elect 31 delegates. Statements from the people who have expressed interest in being a delegate will be published by the Maine Democratic Party prior to Saturday’s meeting.

– We will have volunteers to assist people through this  process  at the Lewiston Armory Senior Center, located at 65 Central Avenue in Lewiston. Volunteers will have laptop computers to help people sign up to attend the meeting and vote for delegates.

– The top 31 vote recipients will represent Androscoggin County at the July 25 State Convention to select a Senate candidate.

The Saturday July 18th delegate selection election will be the most accessible election in Maine history. The voting will be conducted online with the use of personal smart cellphones, tablets, and laptops working with online voting software.  Ninety percent of adult Mainers have smart cellphones.

Preparation will be key.  You will have one hour to cast 31 votes for in excess of 142 delegate candidates.

Statements from the people who have expressed interest in being a delegate will be published by the Maine Democratic Party prior to Saturday’s meeting.
